How to Spend Your Money Wisely when Wedding Planning

According to CNBC, the average cost of a wedding in 2023 is expected to be $29,000. A survey of vendors found 77% are raising their prices this year because of inflation.

An important part of wedding planning is creating your budget, but it can be hard to know how much to spend on certain items, where to splurge, and where you can save. Without a budget and a plan, you may find yourself spending way more than you anticipated! Our experience in the wedding and events industry has taught us what is worth your money, and some ways you can save.

Save money: invitations

Invitations, RSVP cards, envelopes, stamps, oh my! The cost of invitations can add up quickly, and eventually, most of your invites will end up in the trash. Because of this, some brides are opting for online invitations. Most invitations have a website link with more information anyways. Why not skip the paper invitation and send people directly to your website?

Invest: planner

A wedding planner is one investment you can make that can ultimately help you to save money in the long run! A good wedding planner will give you tips and tricks throughout your planning by helping you to streamline your processes. Your planner will typically have a list of preferred vendors at a variety of price points that they will share with you. This research is done for you, saving you so much of your precious time - and time is money!

Invest: catering/food

It may be tempting to try and save money on food at your reception, but it is important to make sure you are hiring someone trustworthy and reliable. Unfortunately, we have seen where hosts try to cut costs on food and the caterer never shows up to the event!

Save money: flowers (silk/fake are not necessarily cheaper!)

It is possible to have the floral arrangements and bouquets of your dreams without going over budget. Check out our blog post on five ways to save money on your flowers without sacrificing style.
